Shepard Smith has gone from being an entertaining and fair television journalist to an anti-Trump fanatic. And now he has taken things a bit too far.
“The president’s assertion is false,” Smith said when referencing a recent comment President Donald Trump made about mainstream media coverage of terror attacks. “The White House knows that it was false or could have known that it was false with a quick Google check, but either did not do so or decided not to tell the truth.”
Shepard Smith should have paid a lot closer attention to President Trump’s statement, which he surely had printed out in front of him. For starters, the president did not call out Fox News specifically.
Secondly, President Trump criticized the press for not covering terror attacks accurately or thoroughly. He did not say the attacks never made the air.
Smith even invited Wall Street Journal associate editor John Bussey on air to help him chastise President Trump. “What they’re saying is not true … Again … Why bother?” the Fox News reporter flippantly added.
Shep Smith sounded like he was on CNN, and not a reputable news outlet like Fox. He had to know the president was referencing, among several things, the mainstream media’s refusal to label the attacks for exactly what they were, radical Islamic terrorism.
Smith has openly displayed his contempt for President Trump for months. His once loyal viewers have steadily turned their backs on his show because of it.
Shepard’s shows is supposed to be of a straight news variety. He is not a commentator like Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, or even Rachel Maddow. Apparently, Smith’s journalistic ethics has slipped so far he is no longer concerned about maintaining his credibility or his integrity.
This is not the first time Fox News viewers have called for Smith’s termination. Last July, he was subjected to intense backlash for chastising former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal for daring to say “all lives matter.”
When recapping a presidential debate between Trump an Hillary Clinton last fall, Shep Smith said the then GOP candidate might be a fascist. What provoked such a vile insult?
Trump indicated he would have his attorney general investigate Hillary over her private email server an the sharing of classified documents, so Smith said he might be a fascist. Demanding the law be followed to protect our national security puts someone on the same list as Hitler? (via )
Shep Smith’s Liberal views have been seeping onto the air more and more. During the controversy surrounding County Clerk Kim Davis’ refusal to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, he compared her actions to Sharia Law!
Smith is clearly going too far and now it is time for Fox to cut him loose before he spreads more of his garbage liberal rhetoric on the airwaves.
